CIJ Lyra McKee Investigative Journalism Bursary Scheme 2023: Applications Open

Applications for the Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ) Lyra McKee Investigative Journalism Bursary and Mentoring Scheme are now open!

Lyra McKee

The CIJ Lyra McKee Bursary Scheme was established in memory of the young and courageous Irish investigative journalist Lyra McKee, who was shot dead by dissident republicans in Derry in April 2019.

The aim of this five-month bursary scheme is to train and mentor people from underprivileged backgrounds, who aspire to become journalists or who are at the very early stages of their journalism career.

Funded by the Lorana Sullivan foundation and by Lyra McKee’s family, the bursary scheme offers in-person and online training as well as journalism and career mentoring. It culminates with the Pitch to the Editors Day, when trainees pitch their stories to UK working editors.

More information on eligibility and on how to apply can be found on the CIJ website. Please read all the information carefully before applying.
