The NUJ – What’s It All About?

The NUJ – What’s It All About?
Wednesday, May 15th, 2019
The Teachers Club, Parnell Square
from 7pm to 8.30pm

This Dublin Freelance Branch initiative is mainly for journalism students and new recruits but open to all NUJ members who want to know more about their union, its code of conduct and how it relates to the concepts of press freedom and media responsibility.

Joining us on the night to share their considerable experience and expertise in the field, are:

  • Barry McCall, former NUJ president, NEC member, chair of Dublin P&PR and Dublin Freelance branch,
  • Betty Purcell, former RTE producer, human rights commissioner and author of Inside RTE
  • Roisin Boyd, former Spare Rib, RTE journalist/broadcaster (specialising in international stories), and communications advocate with Irish Refugee Council and now TU Dublin (DIT) lecturer in communications / media and longtime member of our branch

There’ll be plenty of time for Qs and As during and after the inputs of our three guests.

Tea / coffee on arrival. While there’s no charge for this event, places are limited so booking is essential at this Eventbrite link. You’ll need to copy and paste into the address field and take it from there:
