NUJ Ireland student seminar

The crisis in journalism and employment opportunities

6.30pm on Thursday 1 March in Dublin

Student journalists can get a better understanding of their employment prospects and the environment in which they will soon be working, by attending a special NUJ seminar next month. The event will take place at 6.30pm on Thursday 1 March in the Connolly Room in Liberty Hall, Dublin. The theme of the seminar is Media Matters: The Crisis in Journalism. Will there be work for students when they graduate?

Chairing the seminar will be Irish Executive Council Cathaoirleach, Gerry Curran. The union’s Vice President, Barry McCall, will give the NUJ’s view on the issues, while journalist and writer, Gerard Cunningham, will explain what it is like to work as a freelance journalist. Noirin Hegarty, editor of independent.ie, and Colm O Mongain, RTÉ presenter and journalist, will give their insights into the industry.

Spaces are limited and students need to register in advance.
