The next Freelance Forum, takes place on Monday 21 October, and we’re planning something different. For ten years, the Forum format has been organised into several sessions each covering a different topic. While we will still use that format in the future, this Autumn we thought we’d try something new.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NATURE OF THIS COURSE MEANS PLACES ARE LIMITED TO HALF THE USUAL NUMBER. Reserve your place today.
This one-day course will provide you with practical advice on the business side of working as a freelance journalist. Learn what you need to do to get from your first freelance commission to your first payment, along with the first things you need to know about planning, money, copyright and licensing.
Time: 10.00AM – 5.00PM
Registration from 9.30AM
Date: Monday 21 October 2019
Venue: Buswells Hotel, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2
The programme of events is available here [Forum Programme].
You will practice different ways to pitch ideas, negotiating on price and producing a good quote (of the financial kind).
The course also includes advice on taking care of your health, setting up an office, IT, marketing – and ideas on how to develop your freelance business.
Those attending be prepared to take part in workshop-style exercises and to talk about money. You should also bring pen and paper.
Sorry, we are sold out.
Aimed at writers, photographers and PR practitioners, and hoping to cover print, broadcast and online media, Freelance Forum is organised by Dublin Freelance NUJ branch with support from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
