The Dublin Broadcasting Branch will hold a demonstration in solidarity with Greek public service broadcasters tomorrow – Thursday 13 June – evening at 6.30pm outside the Greek embassy on Pembroke Street in Dublin.
The Greek embassy is on Pembroke Street between Fitzwilliam Square and Leeson Street.
The Greek government forcibly shut down ERT, the Greek equivalent of RTE, last night, with just a few hours warning. The station went off air shortly before midnight. Beyond job losses, this has serious implications for Greek democracy.
NUJ Irish Executive Council (IEC) cathaoirleach Gerry Curran will travelling to Greece tomorrow, and will visit the ERT studios and office with a letter of support from the IEC and the NUJ members. He will also meet with union leaders there and pass on all our concerns.
