The next Irish recruitment training seminar will take place on Thursday 31 January in the Teachers’ Club, 36 Parnell Square West, Dublin. In order to accommodate those travelling from outside Dublin, it will begin at 10.00am and finish by 4.30pm. The seminar is open to all members and will offer advice on who to recruit into the NUJ and how to do it. Regardless of whether you have decades of experience in recruiting fellow journalists or none at all, this seminar aims to give you the practical skills necessary to get other journalists to join the union. Places are limited so anyone wishing to attend should please email info@nuj.ie before 5.00pm on Monday 28 January.
As part of the 2013 centenary commemoration programme the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is hosting a major conference in Dublin on Thursday 24 January 2013. The theme is decent work and the speakers will include Karen Nussbuam – Working America, Michelle O’Sullivan – University of Limerick, Michéal Collins – NERI and a range of trade union speakers. Registration details will be available in early January.
